Artist - Designer - Educator

Hello! My name is Jia. I am an artist, a designer and an educator. I am completing my master’s degree in Art Education at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. As an artist, I have created both classic and digital forms of art. I enjoy digital art the most, such as visual storytelling and digital photography. I focus on still live pictures and transform flowers with fire and ice. As an educator, I am really interested in museum studies. “No right or wrong answer” is my core value in art education.I designed “Meet yourself in the future” as my capstone project. It is a video editing program for 10 to 12-year-old kids to help them express themselves in a different way.Now I'm ready to meet my future students. I know that every kid can be an artist and enjoy the art making process because the most wonderful thing about art is that there’s "No Right or Wrong Answer".

This is a mini collection of water color figures that I did in 2016. These are some of the very first pieces of art that I created after moving to the Bay Area. I really like the texture of water color.

Internship

Palo Alto art center

I did my internship at the Palo Alto Art Center. I worked with the school program team. At the art center, I practiced what I learned, from gallery reading to hands-on activities in art studios.I learned how to ask questions and how to help guide kids into finding their own understanding of art pieces as well as expressing their own opinions. These are the most important things for gallery readings. How to encourage students to go further with their own creations is another important task during hands-on activities.
